Red Dot Design Award 2025 to ART
The automated reach truck ART has been honoured with the prestigious Red Dot Award in the category of Product Design 2025, as the ARTsmf, is the first automated reach truck capable of operating in 2.85 m-wide aisles without compromising efficiency or safety.

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world. The competition is divided into three disciplines: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. The Red Dot jury assesses the submissions based on the level of innovation, functionality and longevity of the presented products.
Rocla ART was designed within the company by the Rocla in-house design and UI teams and released to the market in 2019 for the first time. Although a 2.85 m width is common in many warehouse aisles, automated reach trucks have previously been unable to fit in such narrow spaces due to several limitations. The increasing demand for, and lack of an automated reach truck in the market capable of performing high and heavy lifting in tight environments motivated our team to develop this vehicle further and create ARTsmf, the first ART to fit in such tight aisles.
This new short-framed, yet powerful, ART model makes automation accessible to existing warehouses where space storage is in high demand, without compromising its original lifting (up to 10 m) and load handling (up to 1600 kg) capacities. By designing a vehicle that fits into existing environments, no layout changes are required, saving costs and reducing environmental impact.
ART is developed with optimal automation in mind, enabling a mixed fleet approach between AGVs and manual operations, through clear and easy communication to make sharing the tasks possible and safe. Read more about the winning vehicle here.
About Red Dot
The Red Dot Design Award looks back on 70 years of history: in 1955, a jury came together for the first time to assess the best designs of the time. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Since then, the coveted “Red Dot” distinction has been the internationally recognised seal of outstanding design quality.
